During my free time, I enjoy hiking, traveling, photography, reading and playing badminton.
Photography
I studied painting and sketch since my very young childhood for more than 10 years. But now I only occasionlly do that as I find that spending hours without interruption becomes ever difficult to me. I take photography as an alternative since my undergraduate years. I shoot both digital and films. I learned a lot about photography from the digital photography lectures by Marc Lovey. I also share my photos through instagram (@jinkuncao).

Reading and Writing
I am a heavy reader about fictions and history, mostly in Chinese. I recently created a Goodreads profile and started to track my reading. Some of my favorite novelists include Lianke Yan, Cixin Liu, Ah Cheng, Kurt Vonnegut and J.R.R. Tolkien etc.
I have been writing a fictional novel since early 2020 and hope to complete and make it public in some form before my graduation. But as we all know ... doing anything without a deadline is always delayed ... so hopefully I can make that on time.
